Happy Red Nose Day Everyone!!
In support of this worthy fund-raising event my two girls are attending a sponsored Pyjama Party at school.
Much to my horror, I was informed by them both that my favourite item, ‘the onesie’ was required, “Everyone will be wearing them!”
Against my better judgement I acquired a couple of the offending articles and packed the little darlings off to school!!
They actually don’t look too bad.
I won’t be spending the day in my pyjamas or a onsie for that matter, but I thought it would be fitting to write a post about the latest trend for S/S ’13, and happily it ties in perfectly with todays proceedings…
Yep, the pyjama trend has taken hold and it’s far too stylish to be kept in the bedroom.
Being dressed head to toe in a print may not be for the shrinking violets amongst us, but done well this can be a very elegant and relaxed look and not necessarily that tricky to wear.
Stella McCartney and Diane Von Furstenberg championed the trend during the S/S ’13 shows and the look seems set to stay as it continued to gain momentum throughout the recent A/W ’13 fashion weeks.
Stella McCartney, sent her girls out in a block printed, relaxed alternative to the trouser suit…I’m sold, if only I could look like this!
At Jonathan Saunders, the look had a more daywear feel to it. Wearing the pj pant back to a loose-fitting but plain pj top, is an easier alternative to the head to toe look.
Diane Von Furstenberg played with contrasting opaque and sheer fabrics to break up the wall of print.
And at Hermes there was not a print in sight, just relaxed, layering creating a languid pyjama- esque look.
Fast forward to A/W ’13, and Louis Vuitton has upped the nightwear ante, going all out for the look. His femme fatale collection of satin printed pyjama suits, chemise dresses and slips worn back to mens coats as bathrobes was elegant and definitely brought nightwear out of the bedroom!
So how is this trend being interpreted by the high street?
Am I alone, but the more I see it, the more I like it? I will definitely be trying the pyjama trend out, will you?
Have a good weekend everyone!
