Bermuda Shorts and Bare Legs!

Hooray the sun is finally shining though we may only be on borrowed time…

The unhappy down side to temperatures warming up is the inevitable baring of legs.

It’s catch 22, we spend our time wishing for warm weather but when it arrives we realise that poor lily-white legs are not ready for the light of day; and worse, for them to be ready for the light of day they actually have to be exposed to it…what to do?!!

Never the less the summer trend for the city short (bermuda short if you’re in America) is a great alternative to a skirt but it is still going to cause problems in the initial/ potentially only warm days at the beginning of summer.

City shorts of all fabrics/ fits/ colours and prints were strutted up and down the summer ’13 catwalks in vast quantities so I thought I’d bring you a sample selection from the shows.

Assuming that all goes according to plan on the leg preparation front, I’m feeling quite good about the re – emergence of this particular item of clothing.

So where are my high street alternatives…are there any city shorts out there!?!?

My findings…

French Connection - Infinity drape tie waist shorts, £62

I think it’s fair to say that the high street has well and truly jumped on this band wagon. If it’s shorts you’re after then they are in plentiful supply!

Well that’s great, so now it’s just the minor problem of transforming my legs into somebody else’s!!

Hope the sun shines for the weekend and I can get to work on a base colour!!

Have a lovely bank holiday!!

Enough of Winter…Lets Talk Spring/Summer ’13!

So I for one am well and truly over Winter.

I know, I know it’s only January & snow could arrive at any minute or even in April but I think it’s high time we started looking forward to a time when the sun will shine.

Yes this is the year when the UK will receive that long-awaited and well deserved summer, I’m convinced and ever the optimist!

Every season I research the catwalks, magazines, shop around the world and use any other resources I can get my hot little hands on to make sure I know which trends will be key and hitting the high street in the coming months.

I thought I’d share my findings with you in posts over the next few weeks.

With no further ado lets get started.

Kicking off is one of my favourite parts of the summer season…PRINT.

It’s all over the catwalk for S/S ’13…so here are my top 4 print trends for the summer season.

Florals – Florals of all shapes and sizes, from watercolour to photographic, all over to placement. If you’re a print lady then florals are a must.

This one is my particular favourite…

Stripes – Stripe are big news for Summer. In every guise from Breton to wide, mono to multi-coloured a stripe is a staple for your summer wardrobe.

Next up…

Dip Dye– This hasn’t been around for a while and with bright against pale it looks really fresh and modern again, something I will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for.

And last but not least…

Colour Blocking – This is a trend that has been around for a while but is still very present for S/S ’13. Although not technically a print I felt it should have a place in this post.

Which type of print is your favourite?

On the diet front…It is still happening!

My Fitness Pal is still my best friend but I haven’t told it that I managed to scoff a Terrys Chocolate Orange the other day (a moment of weakness)!

Next time Key Trends. Have a good weekend.
