Hmmmm…uncanny, I briefly mentioned high hopes for a warm summer in my last post and promptly the weather turns decidedly icy. I think that’s called p***ing on my bonfire!
It does appear that I may have been a tad too early and over excited about Spring/Summer and buying summer clothes!
The temperatures have plummeted and donning a flimsy summer dress is probably not top of your to do list at the moment.
I am, however going to soldier on regardless. Whilst wearing a few dozen layers and my snowboots, I will bring you the low down on some of the trends which will no doubt be hitting the High Street over the coming months.
First up is a trend that appeared on the catwalks for A/W ’12 and has continued to gain momentum for S/S ’13. I will be surprised if it doesn’t start to trickle onto the High Street during the summer months.
Rise of Oversized - is all about volume, billowing trousers, soft, unstructured skirts and dropped shoulders. Not for everyone; this is a look that demands balance. An oversized top or jacket should be teamed with slimline trousers or skirt and vice versa.

Left to right - Chloe, Jill Sander, Stella McCartney
The Great Gatsby - Baz Luhmann’s long-awaited version of The Great Gatsby will finally hit our cinema screens this May and a trend for the 1920′s is nicely coinciding with this…don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? All things feminine, flapper and fringed are allowed.

Left to right – Marchesa, Antonio Berardi, Nina Ricci
Sports Luxe – It appears that the fashion world, along with the rest of us got swept up in the atmosphere of the Olympics last year. The result? An influx of sportswear inspired collections for S/S ’13. Clean, uncluttered shapes, in crisp fabrications give a nod and a wink to sportswear through styling, details and trims.

From left to right - Chloe, Alberta Ferretti, DKNY.
A Taste of the Orient – Chinese florals, Kimono sleeves, wrap tops and obi belts all made appearances during the shows and give a very definite flavour of the orient.

From left to right – Lanvin, Etro, John Galliano.
Bringing up the rear…
Summer Gothic - Opulent fabrications in deep purple and burgundy but predominantly black were mixed with leather & jewels, creating a very dramatic, sultry, sexy look. A new twist on the LBD and the perfect trend for an occasion.

So what do you think? Love them or hate them, which will you be sporting?
Diet Watch- It’s been a terrible weekend…I turned into Nigella Lawson and baked biscuits and cakes with the girls. BIG WHOOPS, why did I do that? I obviously do not possess the will power to leave the end products alone. I’ve eaten this weeks calorie allowance already!! Must try harder!
Next time Key Colours.
Hi there, great post and I’m more than a little excited that I might have a few on-trend items already in my wardrobe! A silk & leather obi belt (bought a few years ago when I thought nothing of handing over lots of cash for accessores!) and also a flapper style fringed top (dreadful description; sounds better than it looks!) so yay! I’m already ahead. Love the blog and looking forward to scrolling back over your older posts. Have signed up on bloglovin’! Helen
